BEST OF THE BIG FIVE
This safari departs from Nairobi on:
- 6th May 2012 – For those doing the hash cruise
- 10th May 2012 – For those not doing the hash cruise
Day 1 – The Ark
At 8.00am you will be picked by your driver guide and proceed to Aberdare Country Club for lunch.
At 2.30pm you will be transferred to The Ark.
The Aberdare National Park is famous as the place where Queen Elizabeth visited as a princess and left as a queen. Enjoy viewing the animals as they come to drink and lick salt. Animals to be seen here include; Elephants, Rhino, Leopard, Giant forest hog and bush buck amongst others
Dinner & Overnight – The Ark
Day 2 – Ark – Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast you will proceed to the Northern part of Kenya popularly known as Samburu and arrive in time for lunch.
At 4 O’clock, you will leave for a game drive.
These 3 reserves (Buffalo spring, Shaba and Samburu) were helped put up by Adamson’s family, they are famous for rare species of animals only found in this semi arid region. These are reticulated giraffe, Grevy zebra, gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, and blue necked Somali ostrich amongst others.

Day 3 – Samburu National Reserve
Morning and afternoon game drive.
Overnight & Dinner Samburu Sopa Lodge or equivalent
Day 4 – Samburu – Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast you will be taken to L. Nakuru National Park to arrive in time for lunch.
L. Nakuru is in the Rift Valley and is world famous as an Ornithological paradise. Sometimes up to 2 million flamingos can be seen around the lake. Other animals to be seen here include the big four (Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard). Also the rare species of giraffe known as the Rothschild amongst others.
Overnight & Dinner Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or equivalent
Day 5 – L. Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast you will be taken to Maasai Mara National reserve to arrive in time for lunch.
Maasai Mara is world famous for the annual migration of the wildebeest. Also many National Geographical Documentaries have been recorded from this park.
Animals to be seen here include the big five, zebras, giraffes, topi, kongoni amongst many species of wild life.
Overnight & Dinner Mara Sopa Lodge or equivalent
Day 6 – Maasai Mara National Reserve
Spend the whole day game viewing.

Day 7 – Mara – Nairobi – Mombasa
After breakfast game drive en route out of the park to Nairobi where you will be dropped at the airport for your onward flight to Mombasa.
The cost of this safari will be:
- Without Park Fees – $1090 per person sharing
- With Park Fees – $1525 per person sharing
