Nyeri Tour: Leave Nairobi at 7:30 a.m. Drive to Nyeri. Eat Lunch at the famous Outspan Hotel. View Kikuyu dancers at historical Kikuyu village. Local Dinner including Nyama Choma, Irio, and Githeri at local restaurant (Vegetarian options will be available). Listen and dance to traditional one man guitar and “Mugithi” music at the White Rhino or similar local establishment, overnight at locally owned Greenhills hotel. Day Two Breakfast at 8:00. Tour of Nyeri town including the tomb of Lord Baden Powell and other important historical landmarks. ($250 per person)
Gichagi Tour: Tour of Tea or Coffee Farm and Village in Central Province ($175 per person) The cost of this tour includes lunch and 15% of the fee goes directly to the local community. Leave Nairobi at 8:00 a.m. Proceed to a family homestead in Central Province. View tea or coffee farm and receive lecture regarding harvesting techniques and role of coffee and tea in the local economy. If working conditions allow, a tour of the local tea or coffee factory will be attempted. Homecooked lunch and conversation with a local family in the village. Four p.m. return to Nairobi.
